AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING

HVAC
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

To cut a long story short a HVAC system will keep your home warm in Winter and cool in Summer. The size of the system you need will be determined by the size of your home, how many rooms you have and what kind of insulation you have, if any - don't worry there are plenty of expert insulators here on 23HourBids.com. The better the insulation, the lower your AC running costs will be.

In essence, air is sucked in through the intake, it’s then heated or cooled and forced out through the vents – older and poorly maintained ACs are notorious for causing respiratory problems such as asthma so consider a hypoallergenic system.

Consider also split systems which can be programmed 70/30 or 60/40 or even 50/50 – whatever your living habits require. Most families will have a 70/30 split where during the day 70% of your cooled or heated air will be forced into the hallway, the sitting room and the kitchens with the other 30% being pumped into the bedrooms. At night time it switches where the majority of cooled or heated air gets pumped into the bedrooms for a comfier night’s sleep.

Split systems will save you money on your electricity bills too.

When posting your project include the following vital information needed for your contractor to prepare a detailed bid, size of house, plus or including single or double garage, number of rooms, number of people in the house. Include if there is existing ductwork or if you are starting from scratch. Do you want a split system? Do you want a hypoallergenic system?

If you are replacing your AC, take a photo of it with the label showing clearly and explain why you want to change it - maybe its old, or noisy or just doesn't work any longer. Maybe you've built onto your house and you need to extend the range of your AC or your family have just outgrown your existing machine. All of these details will help your HVAC company prepare a more detailed bid.

If you’ve seen a particular brand or model you like online, add a link to the page. Maybe add a photo of the existing AC and a close up of the label so your contractor can see what you’re currently using.

Add location details too. if your existing AC is on the roof or if it’s ground mounted. For roof mounted ACs include information about the condition of the cage – is it old and rusty? Does it need replacing too? Is your’s a one or two story house? Make sure you include your address so the contractor can find your home on google maps and see for themselves.

Hiring anyone to carry work in your home can be daunting. Letting strangers into your home is even more scary. While many homeowners may go into detail about pricing and materials and quality of work – they rarely ask their contractor for their license details and never ask about their possible criminal background or if their staff are felons.

For your peace of mind, all hvac contractors featured on 23HourBids.com, and their staff, have been background checked for your safety and security. Don't let anyone into your home without the 23HourBids.com seal of safety and security.
