PAINTERS AND DECORATORS

Painters and Decorators
A good painter or decorator is invaluable to the appearance and value of your home. He/she is the last person in to carry out work and will make or break the work of the tradesperson in before.

A good painter/decorator will prepare all of the surfaces you need improving from filling holes to sanding bumps and will advise on different textures and finishes. A good painter will take pride in cleaning, taping, preparing and priming long before he ever gets his brushes out.

In contrast a bad painter/decorator can undo all of the good work of the tradesman in last by leaving your house messy with splashes everywhere or thick lines on uncontoured walls from painting outside the lines. Wall paper hangers leaving air pockets are particularly annoying and these are the things you will see everyday.

There is no hiding place for a bad painter/decorator.

When posting your project, measure out the rooms you want painted. Specify the colors in detail. By just saying blue, you are almost guaranteed to get the wrong shade and then who’s fault is it?

Also mention if you are prepared to buy the paint and just want a cost for labour. Mention too if you are going to supply tape and sandpaper, caulking and cleaning products. If so, get a list of supplies from your contractor and have them delivered to your home - no theirs. Also find out if your contractor is going to bring drop sheets and will he/she have help to move furniture.

Or maybe you want your contractor to supply everything. Your contractor would prefer that as clients are notorious for forgetting something which just holds up the job and is a real pain.

Also include if you want popcorn ceilings to be remedied and put back to flat or vice versa – maybe you want your flat ceilings popcorned or textured. Also include if you want baseboards and door trims painted too. This will all go towards getting a detailed bid from your contractors so there are no nasty surprises later.

If you want the outside painted, ensure to include your address so your contractors can find your home on google maps and see for him or herself what they are dealing with. Take pictures or better still a video and talk over any details you think are important – zoom in on holes or blemishes so your contractor can see what he/she needs to repair.

Hiring anyone to carry work in your home can be daunting. Letting strangers into your home is even more scary. While many homeowners may go into detail about pricing and materials and quality of work – they rarely ask their contractor for their license details and never ask about their possible criminal background or if their staff are felons.

For your peace of mind, all painetrs and decorators featured on 23HourBids.com have been background checked for your safety and security. Don't let anyone into your home without the 23HourBids.com seal of safety and security.
